Rock A Nore is the nearest beach to where I live, about a 15 minute walk. It is an area of Hastings close to the Old Town and its name was officially adopted in 1859 - derived from 'Rock against the North'.
It has the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Europe and I love wandering around the boats and all the paraphernalia that goes with it, the fishing tackle, nets and crab pots where it feels like nothing has changed for hundreds of years.
